Nethmi is a modern designer who is influenced by the vibrancy of global cultures and international styling trends. As a designer Nethmi works with different craft communities and uses traditional crafts such as batik mixed with her signature bold, graphic print style.

Nethmi Muramudalige is a BA (Hons) Fashion graduate from Northumbria UK through AOD Sri Lanka. Her work is now part of URBAN ISLAND’S diverse brand portfolio. Nethmi started a beauty and fashion blog in 2014, aiming to spread awareness on the deep relationship between fashion, styling and makeup to Sri Lanka. With this influence, her work is now driven with a major interplay between styling, fashion  and a contemporary lifestyle enriched by the experience of travel and exploring new cultures.

Nethmi’s S/S 2017 was inspired by the Mexican tribe ‘Huichol’. Native Huichol symbols such as fire, peyote, eagle and reindeer have been used in primary and contrasting colours. With prints that mix traditional batik and screen printing with bold silhouettes, the collection speaks to the  luxury traveller, who values the importance of preserving traditional craft.
